FAQ

Clear answers about how OICPA works, what it costs, and how specialty situations are handled.

Working with OICPA

Yes. OICPA supports growth-focused businesses as well as individuals, investors, and households with more complex planning needs, often coordinating both sides for the same client.

Switching to OICPA

Usually a signed authorization letting us request prior-year returns and records from your current preparer, plus access to existing books if you have them. We handle the outreach and file transfer directly so it is not left to you to chase down.

Technology and communication

Through a secure client portal built for financial documents, not email attachments. Engagement letters and signature requests go through the same portal rather than a separate e-signature tool you have to track down.

Scope and pricing

Pricing depends on entity complexity, bookkeeping volume, and how much planning cadence you want. The Pricing Tool gives a starting estimate, and we confirm scope on a short call.

Specialty and compliance situations

Yes. Multi-state issues are a normal part of many engagements, including planning, filing coordination, and ongoing state-level complexity.

Industries and specialties

Yes. We work with real estate investors, e-commerce and retail sellers, restaurants, medical and dental practices, law firms, nonprofits, and several other specific industries, each with its own recurring tax and accounting patterns. See the Industries page for the full list.
