Terms of Service
General terms governing use of the OICPA website and the informational materials published on it.
Last updated: September 8, 2026
Acceptance of terms
By using this website, you agree to use it for lawful informational and communication purposes only. These terms apply to your use of the site itself; they do not replace or modify the terms of any separate engagement agreement you sign with OICPA.
No client relationship formed by browsing or submitting a form
Browsing this website, using the pricing tool, or submitting a contact form does not create a CPA-client relationship, an attorney-client-style privilege, or any obligation for OICPA to represent you. A client relationship begins only when both parties sign a written engagement letter defining the scope of services, fees, and responsibilities.
Do not treat a pricing tool estimate, a service page, or an emailed reply to an initial inquiry as a final quote or as advice you can rely on for a specific filing position - those are confirmed only within an active engagement.
Not tax, legal, or accounting advice
Content on this website - service descriptions, published pricing, insight articles, illustrative scenarios - is general information for educational purposes. It does not constitute tax, legal, or accounting advice for your specific situation, and it is not written to be relied upon for penalty protection under IRS Circular 230 or similar professional standards. Every situation is different; formal advice is provided only through an active engagement where we have reviewed your actual facts.
Licensing and jurisdiction
OICPA is based in Brooklyn, New York, and its CPAs are licensed to practice in the jurisdictions where they provide services. Availability of a specific service in your state may depend on licensing and reciprocity rules, which we will confirm with you before beginning an engagement.
Audit, review, and compilation (attest) services are subject to the firm's eligibility, independence, and applicable professional standards under the jurisdiction in which the service is performed, and are only performed where the firm is properly licensed and permitted to do so. Where a specific attest service is outside the firm's eligibility or scope, we will coordinate with an appropriately licensed and independent firm rather than perform it directly.
No confidential documents through this website
Do not submit Social Security numbers, tax ID numbers, bank account details, or confidential tax documents through the public contact form, pricing tool, or unencrypted email. Once you are an active client under a signed engagement letter, document exchange happens through the client portal, which is built for that purpose.
Intellectual property
The content, design, and organization of this website are the property of OICPA or its licensors. You may view and share pages for personal, non-commercial reference, but you may not republish, redistribute, or create derivative works from this content without permission.
No warranty; limitation of liability
This website and its content are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, including accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose. Tax law changes - sometimes retroactively - and published content may not reflect the most current guidance at the moment you read it. To the fullest extent permitted by law, OICPA is not liable for decisions made based solely on information published on this website without a corresponding engagement.
Third-party links
This site may link to third-party resources or tools. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of third-party sites.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where superseded by the terms of a specific written engagement agreement.
Changes to these terms
OICPA may update website content, services, and these terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
